# Wedding gift ideas: useful, personal or shared

Wedding gift ideas fall into three groups: useful, personal and shared. Useful gifts are things the couple would buy anyway, personal ones are things they'd never buy for themselves, and shared ones are things no single guest would buy alone.

Each idea below comes with the reason it gets used and who it suits. We sell in bulk, so these are ideas, not products. If you're hosting, the last part covers [return gifts for every guest](https://swagloop.com/wedding).

## Useful wedding gift ideas for the first few months

A useful gift is something the couple would have bought anyway in their first few months, so you save them the errand. These three get used daily.

- **A steel spice box or a good pan.** Both get used at every meal, and a new kitchen needs them from day one. It suits a couple setting up their own place.
- **A pair of flasks or lunch boxes.** They go into a bag every working day, so a matching pair gets used. It's good for couples who both leave the house for work.
- **A mixer-grinder or another small appliance.** It saves the couple a purchase in the first month. Leave it to close family, who can ask what's missing first, because two guests can easily bring the same appliance.

## Personal ideas they wouldn't buy for themselves

A personal gift is about the two of them, so it can be small and still mean something. The point is that nobody else could have given it.

- **A print of the place they met.** A map or a skyline of the city, framed for a wall. It's about them, and a wall in a new home needs something on it. It's good for friends who know the story.
- **Their initials on something they use daily.** A mug, a towel set or a tote does its job, and the initials make it theirs. It suits close family and friends.
- **A letter from you, about them.** One page on what they mean to you, with a small gift if you like. It works even when the gift is small, and it's one for siblings and friends who'd rather say it than buy it.

## Shared ideas: group gifts and messages

A shared gift pools several guests into one thing the couple wanted, so it avoids duplicates. It goes smoothly when one person organises it and checks with the family.

- **One bigger gift from a group.** Friends or colleagues chip in for one good piece the couple chose. They get what they wanted, and it suits friend groups and office teams.
- **Tickets for two.** A concert, a play or a match, bought as a pair. It gives them a plan once the wedding week is over, and it suits couples who'd rather have plans than things. Check the date suits them before you book.
- **A video of messages.** Each person records a minute, and one person joins the clips. It costs time, not money, and it's good for relatives who can't come to the wedding.

If you can't decide between the three groups, I'd go for a shared gift, because it spreads the cost and gives the couple something they chose.

## Wedding gift ideas to skip

Three kinds of gift are easy to get wrong: anything fragile, anything you'd have to guess at and anything that needs setting up. Each one makes extra work for the couple.

- **Fragile crockery or glass sets.** One bump on the way home can leave the set a piece short.
- **Clothes or jewellery in a size or taste you can't guess.** If you can't ask, choose something that needs no fitting.
- **Anything that needs setting up.** Furniture or a large appliance needs a delivery slot and someone at home to take it. Ask the couple first.

For more ways to choose, see our [gifts by the couple's next step](https://swagloop.com/blog/wedding-gift-for-couple/). It starts from what is next for the couple, whether that is a new home, a trip or nothing missing.

## Every guest needs a gift from you too, and we can take care of it

If you're hosting, every guest on your list gets a return gift, and we can take care of the whole order. See [what hosts give back](https://swagloop.com/blog/wedding-gift/) for how that side works, or [wedding return gift ideas](https://swagloop.com/blog/wedding-return-gifts/) for what guests keep.

Every guest gets the same design. We add the couple's names or a monogram, send a proof or order summary for you to approve before production starts, and pack the gifts in a box or a bag. We ship from our Delhi warehouse across India, to one address or to each recipient.

Orders ship within 12 to 14 working days of order confirmation. After dispatch, allow up to 3 working days in Delhi NCR and up to 6 working days elsewhere in India. Every order comes with a GST invoice. If we get it wrong, such as a defect, a misprint, transit damage or a short shipment, we fix, replace, credit or refund it.

To see how an order adds up, take the [Personalised Name Glass Tumbler with Wooden Lid & Straw, 540 ml](https://swagloop.com/products/966/personalised-name-glass-tumbler-with-wooden-lid--straw-540-ml). It is borosilicate glass with a wooden lid and a reusable glass straw, and it carries a name in script. Ask us first before you plan a name per guest. About 300 units at around ₹750 a head comes to about ₹2.3 lakh. For the current price, open the product page or [ask us for the catalogue.](https://swagloop.com/contact)

The tumbler is glass, so ask us how it will be packed. For a filled box, the [LOYKA Pushp Vatika Box](https://swagloop.com/products/778/loyka-pushp-vatika-box) lists cranberry and brownie almond brittle, sea salt almond caramel barks and a candle. About 200 units at around ₹1,200 a head comes to about ₹2.3 lakh. GST, branding and shipping come on top of both figures.

Other personalised pieces from our wedding range also suit a return gift. Each listing says what the piece carries.

- [Personalised Travel Organiser with Charm](https://swagloop.com/products/972/personalised-travel-organiser-with-charm)
- [Personalised Passport Cover & Eyewear Case Set, Navy](https://swagloop.com/products/976/personalised-passport-cover--eyewear-case-set-navy)

We usually work with 40 units per design. If you need fewer, tell us and we'll work something out.

## How far ahead to confirm

Confirm your order and artwork at least 7 weeks before the wedding. Confirmation means you have confirmed the order and approved the artwork, so the names or monogram need to be final by then.

Our team takes a year-end break, and nothing ships in that window. For the North East, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and the islands, ask us for a date first. Missed the date? Ask us, and we will tell you honestly whether it can still arrive in time.

Choosing for your own guest list? Open the [wedding page](https://swagloop.com/wedding), or use the [contact page](https://swagloop.com/contact) if you'd rather ask us about a design first.
